A previous
retrospective Australian study on over 70000 pediatric ED attendances derived formula for three different age ranges:
For
Infants < 12 months :
Weight (Kg) = (age in months+9)/2
For
Children aged 1-5 years : Weight (Kg)
= 2 X (age in years +5)
For
Children aged 5-14 years : Weight (Kg) =
4 X age in years.

The
revised formula that the author suggests as a replacement can be used from 1-13
years inclusive as a validated evidence-based system to estimate the weight of
children today.
WT
= ( 3 X age ) + 7
About arithmetic formulas for
calculating ideal body weight (Adult):
Dr. BJ Devine published the following formula:
Men: Ideal Body Weight (in kilograms) = 50 + 2.3 kg per inch
over 5 feet
Women: Ideal Body Weight (in kilograms) = 45.5 + 2.3 kg per inch over 5 feet
Women: Ideal Body Weight (in kilograms) = 45.5 + 2.3 kg per inch over 5 feet
Dr. JD Robinson published a modification of the formula:
Men: Ideal Body Weight (in kilogram):
52 kg + 1.9 kg for each inch over 5 feet
Women: Ideal Body Weight (in
kilogram): 49 kg + 1.7 kg for each inch over 5 feet
Dr. DR Miller published a different
modification:
Men:
Ideal Body Weight (in kilogram)= 56.2 kg + 1.41 kg for each inch over 5 feet
Women:
Ideal Body Weight (in kilogram)= 53.1 kg + 1.36 kg for each inch over 5 feet
